Six leading institutions are joining forces across healthcare, research, education and innovation to create one of southern Europe's strongest cancer ecosystems. The new Consorci Oncològic Integral Nord Catalunya aims to achieve European certification as a Comprehensive Cancer Consortium and join the European network of excellence in oncology.

New study maps the landscape of KRAS mutations and targeted therapies in colorectal cancer

A team of researchers from IGTP and ICO has studied alterations in the KRAS gene in colorectal cancer by combining genomic analyses with a systematic review of targeted compounds and clinical trials. Their findings, published in the journal npj Precision Oncology, provide and updated overview to guide future advances in this cancer's treatment.

A new biomarker shows potential to evaluate treatment response for metastatic colorectal cancer

A study led by researchers from the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) and Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO) analysed peripheral blood samples from patients with metastatic colorectal cancer and identified a potential biomarker indicating the effectiveness of oxaliplatin-based treatment. The research has been published in the journal Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy.

New therapeutic strategy for metastatic prostate cancer patients resistant to standard treatment

Researchers from B·ARGO and the Urological Tumour Unit at IGTP and ICO have led a study proposing a new therapeutic strategy based on a combination of kinase inhibitors for metastatic prostate cancer patients who have progressed on standard treatment. The study has been published in the journal Frontiers in Pharmacology.
