IGTP's Innovation Unit receives AENOR's R&D&I Certification

The certification body AENOR has accredited the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) for successfully implementing a research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) management system in accordance with the UNE 166002:2021 Standard. This certification is a guarantee of good practices, and confirms that the implementated R&D&I management system meets the statutory requirements.

Two IGTP groups lead a European analysis to understand key factors for digitalisation in practice environments

The research groups in Nursing Care (NURECARE) and Innovation, Health Economics and Digital Transformation (INEDIT) from the IGTP are leading the publication of the first report on the key factors for introducing digital technologies in professional nursing practice environments. Through this effort, professionals from the Germans Trias Hospital are participating for the first time in the design of a comprehensive analysis of the required changes, while also offering recommendations to ensure the success of any initiative aimed at incorporating these technologies into hospitals.

Hyposfix, a new medical device to improve paediatric urological surgeries, has been developed by researchers at Germans Trias Hospital, with support from IGTP

The expertise and innovation spirit of researchers at Germans Trias Hospital's Paediatric Surgery Service has resulted in a new medical device for the treatment of hypospadias: Hyposfix, a urological separator-fixator. This device, which will be launched to market soon, is the result of an idea and a project led at Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP).

IGTP is appointed as ‘EATRIS Expert Centre’

EATRIS, the European infrastructure for translational medicine, has appointed 7 Expert Centres, to provide high value added services historically offered by EATRIS Coordination and Support. Those expert services that are complementary to the existing laboratory research services offered by EATRIS institutions cover crucial areas such as innovation management, regulatory strategy, translational feasibility, and early health technology assessment. With 7 newly appointed Expert Centres, EATRIS will continue serving Europe's translational research efforts and growing demand for expert services.

Four IGTP spin-offs selected in the WomenTechEU call

The European Commission has announced the results of the second WomenTechEU call, which aims to support innovative European deep-tech companies founded by women. This year, 134 women-led companies have been chosen to receive a €75,000 grant to assist with their innovation process and company growth. Among the selected companies are four spin-offs from the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP). These companies represent a portion of the 20 Catalan women-led companies selected in the WomenTechEU call.

Aniling, IGTP and ICO awarded €1.8 million from the Spanish government to develop a theragnostic tool for personalised management of colorectal cancer

The consortium made up of Aniling, the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) and the Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO) has been awarded €1.8 million from the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) for the development of a new theragnostic tool to personalise the management of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients.

IGTP receives the visit of Cristóbal Belda, director of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III

The visit of the director of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) -a public body attached to the Ministry of Science and Innovation, responsible for the promotion, coordination and funding of health research- at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) was an opportunity to gain direct insight into the latest advances and research while addressing strategic issues.

State funding of €1.8M to develop an advanced gene therapy for Friedreich's ataxia

The Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) and the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCII) will fund the project with 1.8 million euros within the R&D&I call linked to Personalised Medicine and Advanced Therapies in the framework of the Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation for Vanguard Health (PERTE for Vanguard Health) in gene therapy for Friedreich's ataxia.

Nimble Diagnostics closes a financing round of one million euros

NIMBLE Diagnostics, a spin-off from the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia – BarcelonaTech (UPC) and the University of Barcelona (UB), has successfully closed a funding round led by Grow Ventures together with Namarel Ventures and Inveniam Group where they have secured more than one million euros. NIMBLE is developing the first medical device to monitor patients with implanted stents, thus avoiding serious complications and improving the clinical management of millions of patients each year.
